[창조의 새벽] 거대한 우주 A big universe
관측 가능한 우주는 지름이 930억 광년이다. The observable universe is 93 billion light-years in diameter. 이것은 이렇게 광대한 어두운 우주를 배경으로 우리의 지구는 한 점의 티끌도 안 되게 만든다. This makes the earth and us on less than a speck against the backdrop of such a vast cosmic dark. 또한 우리의 지구는 우주에서 특별한 물리적 위치를 차지하는 것 같지 않다. Nor do we seem to occupy a special physical location in the universe. 그리고 인간은 추정되는 138억 년의 시간 동안에 지난 100만 년 동안만 존재했다. And humans have only existed for the last 1 million years or so of its supposed 13.8-billion-year existence.
칼 세이건은 보이저 1호의 유명한 '창백한 푸른 점' 사진을 명상하면서, 웅변적으로 이렇게 말했다. Carl Sagan eloquently pointed out as he meditated on the famous ‘Pale Blue Dot’ image from Voyager 1. In 1 Kings 8:27 Solomon makes a similar observation, this time concerning God dwelling in the temple he has just built. “하나님이 참으로 땅에 거하시리이까 하늘과 하늘들의 하늘이라도 주를 용납하지 못하겠거든 하물며 내가 건축한 이 성전이오리이까 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built!” 이는 영원한 하나님의 말씀이 나사렛의 인간 예수로 성육신하여, “우리 가운데 거하시매“라는 요한복음 1장 14절 구절에서 더욱 뚜렷하게 드러난다. This is even more evident in the Incarnation, where the eternal Word of God “tabernacles among us” in John 1:14 as the human Jesus of Nazareth.
